Falcon Windows Apprentice Ben Passes with Flying Colours

Young Falcon window fitter apprentice keeps tradition alive and customers on side

True to the Falcon Windows motto ‘flying high on quality’, we’re all so proud of fledgling window fitter Ben Godfrey who has not just passed his apprenticeship with us, but passed it with distinction!

Quality, courteousness and care on every job have been the buzz-words at Falcon Windows Ipswich throughout our nearly 40 years of trading – and Ben is very much keeping this tradition alive.

“Ben’s apprenticeship took 2 years to complete,“ explains Falcon MD, Eamon Sheppard, “and with much of it being geared around theory at 6th form college level in contrast to hands-on practical installation work, we understood that it was really challenging for him.
But we were seeing the quality of his work and hearing fantastic reports too about him from our customers.

Ben soon proved to everyone at Falcon – and to his examiners when assessed installing a back door and flag window – that he could think on his feet and really apply his learning. “We think the way he was able to overcome a difficult problem on site in that particular assessed installation certainly went towards him being awarded a distinction,” says Eamon with pride.

A family tradition at Falcon Windows Ipswich

Family is at the heart of Falcon’s windows, doors and conservatories installations business and also our Falcon Group of trade, maintenance and support companies too. It’s perhaps no surprise then that being welcomed into the Falcon family, young Ben is also following in the footsteps of his own father, Darren- himself a long-established Falcon fitter.

Ben says: “When I first started at Falcon, I was new to the trade. I had been working alongside my Dad beforehand, helping him out and learning, but I didn’t know much and was quite nervous starting out.

In my apprenticeship there was a lot off intense course work, so I had to apply myself – and, I have to say, my course assessor and all the staff at Falcon were extremely encouraging and helpful. It was challenging, but it’s all been worth it. Now that I’ve passed and can go on to earning a decent wage and expanding my knowledge, I’ve got so much to look forward too.”

Doing Business the Friendly, Falcon Family Way I Meet the Team
A real family of companies I About Falcon Windows

Keeping Falcon Windows' Suffolk customers happy

“I like meeting new people every day and leaving each job knowing that the customer is happy with my work,” shares Ben in his Falcon team profile. “ I enjoy doing a neat job.” But you don’t have to take just Ben’s word for it, or even that of his ‘it-speaks-for-itself’ distinction.

“We are very pleased with our new windows recently installed by Falcon Windows” write Falcon customers, Mr & Mrs Plummer, in their review of their installation team’s handiwork. “The old windows were removed and the new ones were in quickly and expertly thanks to the hardworking Martin and Mark, with young Ben to help on the second day. It was all carried out in a very friendly way and completed nicely clean and tidy.”

The proof is in the pudding – or in the chocolates on this occasion, as Ben and his installation and office colleagues were treated to a tip or treat by their delighted customers!
